Looking after Richmond families since 1997

For over 30 years, we've been quietly looking after the dental health of patients across Richmond, Kew, East Sheen, Twickenham and the wider TW10 community. Three generations of some local families now sit in our chairs, and that long-term trust is the thing we're most proud of

What kind of practice are we?

Richmond Hill Dental is a fully private practice tucked away on The Vineyard, just off Richmond Hill itself. We're independently run, family-feeling, and genuinely focused on the long-term care of our patients - not the short-term sale. We're not the cheapest practice in Richmond, and we're at peace with that. What we offer instead is unhurried appointments, careful diagnosis, modern technology, and a gentle approach that's helped countless nervous patients feel at ease.

High-end dentistry in Richmond focused on long-term results

Our quiet philosophy is simple - good dentistry shouldn't feel rushed or transactional. We invest in proper technology, careful planning and time spent talking with you, because it's how we deliver results that genuinely last. Many of our long-term patients still have crowns, fillings and implants placed 15 to 20 years ago.

Your new patient offer

We've made starting with us as easy as possible:

  • New adult examination including X-rays - £60 (usual fee £135)
  • New child examination including X-ray - £20 (usual fee £40)

There's no catch and no obligation to commit to ongoing treatment. It's simply our way of giving you the chance to meet us, see how we work, and decide whether we're the right fit for you.

  • A thorough medical and dental history conversation
  • A full examination of every tooth, gum and soft tissue
  • Oral cancer screening of your lips, tongue, cheeks and throat
  • A bite and jaw assessment
  • Digital X-rays where clinically needed (low-dose, instant)
  • Clear, honest feedback on what we see
  • A written estimate for any recommended treatment

Your first visit at Richmond Hill Dental

We've designed your first visit to feel calm, clear and properly personal. Here's exactly what to expect.

Step 1 - A warm welcome at reception

You'll be greeted by name when you arrive, given any final paperwork to complete, and shown to a comfortable waiting area. Your dentist will come and collect you personally when they're ready.

Step 2 - A proper conversation first

Before any examination, your dentist will sit and chat with you about your medical history, your dental experiences (good and otherwise), what's been bothering you, and what you'd like to get from being a patient here.

Step 3 - A thorough but gentle examination

We'll then carefully check every tooth, your gums, your bite and your soft tissues. We'll take any necessary digital scans or X-rays, and walk you through what we're seeing as we go.

Step 4 - Clear findings and a personal plan

At the end of your visit, you'll know exactly what we've seen, what (if anything) needs attention, and what your options are. You'll leave with a written estimate where treatment is recommended - and never any pressure to decide on the spot.

Modern dentistry in Richmond powered by advanced technology

Walking into our practice, you'll quickly see this isn't a tired old dental surgery. We've invested carefully in proper technology because it makes a genuine difference to the care you receive:

  • Primescan and iTero digital scanners - precise 3D images of your mouth, no messy impressions
  • 3D CBCT scanner - detailed three-dimensional imaging for implant and complex case planning
  • Digital low-dose X-rays - instant images, far less radiation than older systems
  • Airflow polishing - a gentler, more comfortable way to remove stains and plaque

What if I haven't been to a dentist in years?

Please don't feel awkward about it. We see patients every week who haven't been in a dental chair for many years - sometimes decades. There's never any judgement, no lectures, just a calm welcome and a gentle plan to get you back on track. Many of our most loyal long-term patients started exactly that way.

What if I'm nervous about visiting the dentist?

You're far from alone, and we have proper experience helping anxious patients feel at ease. Our team takes everything at your pace, explains things clearly, and stops the moment you need a break. For patients with more significant anxiety, we also offer IV sedation with Dr Frances Carling-Thom, who specialises in caring for nervous patients.

Frequently asked Questions

How do I register as a new patient?

Simply book your first appointment - either online or by calling us - and we'll guide you through registration when you arrive. We'll send you a brief medical history form to complete in advance, which makes your first visit smoother.

Are you a private or NHS practice?

We're a fully private practice. This means we can offer longer appointments, the latest technology, and the time and care that genuinely high-quality dentistry needs. We're transparent about every fee, and there's never any obligation to proceed with treatment.

Do I need to be referred by my current dentist?

Not at all. You can register with us directly. If you'd like us to request your dental records from a previous practice, we're happy to do that with your permission - it helps us understand your full history.

How long does a new patient appointment take?

Around 45 minutes to an hour. We deliberately allow more time for first visits than routine check-ups, because we want to get to know you properly before any decisions are made.

What if I just want a one-off cosmetic consultation?

That's completely fine. We see lots of patients who come specifically for a cosmetic discussion - whether that's whitening, bonding or a full smile makeover. There's no obligation to register for ongoing care if you'd rather not.

Do you treat children?

Absolutely - we love seeing children. Our practice has been a family practice for three decades, and we offer a £20 new child examination, our friendly Toothbrushing Club, and gentle, age-appropriate care for little ones.

Can my whole family register together?

Yes, and many of our families do exactly that - it makes scheduling appointments far easier. We can often book consecutive appointments so you only need to make one trip.

What if I have a dental emergency before I've registered?

Please call us on 0208 940 1860 - we hold emergency slots back each day specifically for urgent appointments. You don't need to be a registered patient to be seen, and many people register with us afterwards once they've experienced our approach.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes - there's pay-and-display street parking on The Vineyard and surrounding streets, and we're a short walk from Richmond station for those travelling in by train.
