When something goes wrong with your teeth, the last thing you want is to wait around. Our team is here to see you quickly, calm any worries, and get you back to feeling like yourself.

Walk-in friendly team

A dental emergency is anything that's causing you significant discomfort, bleeding, swelling, or sudden damage to your teeth or gums. If you're not sure whether it qualifies, please call us anyway on 0208 940 1860 - we'd rather you check than sit at home worrying.

Some problems can wait for a routine appointment. Others really shouldn't. Please call us as soon as you can if you're dealing with:

We hold appointment slots back each day specifically for emergencies, which means most patients are seen within hours of calling. Our team in TW10 has been looking after Richmond, Kew and East Sheen families for over 30 years - so whatever's happened, you're in steady hands.
When you're in discomfort, knowing what's coming next makes everything easier. Here's exactly what to expect.

Phone the practice on 0208 940 1860 and our reception team will gently take some details about what's happened, then find you the soonest possible appointment.
You'll be seen by one of our gentle dentists, who will take their time to examine the area, take any necessary digital X-rays, and explain clearly what's going on.
Our priority is always relieving discomfort straight away. That might mean dressing a tooth, draining an infection, or carrying out a simple stabilising treatment to settle things down.
Once you're comfortable, we'll talk through any longer-term treatment that may be needed. There's never any pressure to decide on the spot, and you'll always leave with a clear plan and written estimate.

A few quick steps can make a real difference while you're on your way:

We believe in transparent pricing, especially when you're already worried. Our emergency appointment fee is £85, which covers your consultation, examination and immediate stabilising care. Any further treatment will be clearly quoted before we proceed - no surprises.

We're open 9am to 6pm on weekdays, and our reception team can usually fit emergencies in on the same day. For out-of-hours care, please call NHS 111, who can direct you to the nearest urgent dental service.

How soon will I be seen if I call with a dental emergency?
In most cases, the same day. We hold slots back specifically for urgent appointments. If you call early in the day, there's a strong chance we'll see you within a few hours.
Will my emergency appointment be uncomfortable?
We do everything possible to make sure it isn't. Our gentle dentists use modern anaesthetic techniques and will always check you're comfortable before starting any treatment. For very anxious patients, we also offer IV sedation with Dr Frances Carling-Thom
Can children be seen for dental emergencies?
Yes, absolutely. Our team is well-practised at putting children at ease, even when they're a bit upset. Please mention it's for a child when you call so we can prepare properly.
What if I just need advice, not an appointment?
That's fine too. Call us on 0208 940 1860 and our team will happily talk things through. Sometimes a worry can be calmed with a conversation, and other times we'll suggest you pop in to be seen.
Do you accept emergency patients who aren't already registered?
Yes. You don't need to be a regular patient at Richmond Hill Dental to be seen for an emergency. Many people register with us afterwards once they've experienced our approach.
